DescriptionSight Word Activity Books are a FUN, hands-on way to practice reading and writing Sight Words. This bundle includes 21 books: 11 color words and 10 number words for less than .50 per book! (See book titles below). Also available are two other bundles:PRE-PRIMER SIGHT WORD ACTIVITY BOOK BUNDLE!!PRIMER SIGHT WORD ACTIVITY BOOK BUNDLE!!Every book follows the same, fun format:Each book starts with a short story including the sight word in traceable letters on each page. The story is written with a predictable phrase on each page and a cute picture to support the text. This is great for emergent readers. Following the story are four fun practice activities: “Find It,” “Write It,” “Color It,” “Connect It.”If you want to use one sight word book per week, here is one way to break up the activities:Monday: Practice reading the story and tracing the sight words.Tuesday: Students read the story in partners and complete the fun “Find It” activity. For the “Find It” activity, students find the sight word being practiced in the table of words, and color it in with a crayon or use a highlighter (my kids are a big fan of highlighters). Wednesday: Students reread the story (partners, choral read, guided reading group time etc…) and complete the “Write It” activity. Students practice writing the sight word and when they finish, I let them get the chalkboards and do sight word chalk time. Thursday: Students reread the story for more fluency practice and complete the “Color It” page. This is a favorite! Students can color in the bubble sight word, use colored construction paper to tear and glue color onto the word, or paint the word. I have even used the “Color It” page as a play-doh mat, and students make the sight word out of play-doh first, then color it in!Friday: Students reread the story and do the “Connect It” activity. This activity is more fine motor practice as well as counting practice.
